Queens Park Rangers vs. Aston Villa Predictions: Premier League Picks

Dab smack in the middle of the Premier League table, Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers are trying to make some headway. The two will meet up in English Premiership betting action on Sunday morning at Loftus Road.

QPR had been blanked in back to back matches before taking on the Wolverhampton Wanderers on the road. It was a fixture in which the Rangers were big underdogs, but they came out and absolutely dominated, winning 3-0 in a match that turned out to never be in much doubt. Joey Barton started off the scoring in the eighth minute, and the floodgates only opened up from there. Barton is the man that is really expected to be getting this team off to a good start in EPL action on a regular basis, and if he isn’t creating anything up front, this offense is in a heck of a lot of trouble.

Carlos Cuellar still isn’t ready to come back into the lineup for the Villains, but Aston Villa still knows that it has some potential, even possibly for a European season this year. It is clear that Arsenal is down, and if that’s the case and things really don’t get any better for teams like Tottenham Hotspur, the opportunity really could be there for something special to happen this season at Villa Park.

Picking up four draws and a win in five matches leaves Aston Villa in some unusual company. There are only four teams that enter this weekend with a goose egg in the loss column, and though Villa is ranked the lowest of the four teams, it is still something to be proud of.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has been the hero of this club this year, accounting for three goals of the six that the team has on the campaign. He also has a helper to boot.

Still, Manager Kevin McLeish knows that he has some big time expectations that he has to fill in this job, and picking up three points in a road fixture like this would be incredibly important.

The last time that these two teams met on the pitch was at Villa Park in the 2008 Carling Cup. QPR took out an unimpressive side of backup Villains 1-0 for a huge road ‘W’.

QPR is a narrow favorite on the Premier League odds, as they are +130 favorites to claim the three points at home. However, the Villains are +210, while the draw is set at +225. The ‘total’ is set at a flat 2.5.

Queens Park Rangers vs. Newcastle United Predictions & Picks

Loftus Road will be the site of the final English Premiership odds battle in Week 4, and it’s a big one. Two teams that are going to try to stick around in the middle of the Premier League table, as newcomers Queens Park Rangers tries to take out Newcastle.

It’s been an awfully solid start for the Magpies this year, as they are 2-1-0 through three matches and are very predictably sitting in the middle of the table. Since posting a scoreless draw against Arsenal to start the season, there hasn’t been a team on the slate that should challenge for a spot in European competition this season, and that will remain the case not just for this week, but until an October 16th battle at home against Tottenham Hotspur.

Even though Joey Barton is gone, Leon Best has been the hero thus far this season, scoring both goals against Fulham at St. James’ Park in Newcastle’s most recent EPL betting battle.

However, it’s definitely not all peaches and cream for the Magpies. They have really been concerned for weeks over Manager Alan Pardew and the fact that he might be stepping down from the post that he has manned for years over the team’s transfer policy. We must admit that it was an awfully quiet transfer season for Newcastle United, and that will almost certainly make it so the team won’t be able to hold this position near the top of the table for all that long.

QPR has been seen by its hometown faithful twice this year, and both games at Loftus Road proved to be a disaster. Not only was the team bounced 4-0 by a somewhat questionable Bolton Wanderers side to start off the Premier League betting campaign, but it was also taken down 2-0 in the Carling Cup by Rochdale out of League One.

That being said, there is definitely plenty of reason to be happy right now if you’re a fan of the Hoops. Tommaso Trani, Anton Ferdinand, and Shaun Wright-Phillips were all signed to Queens Park right before the end of the transfer season at the end of August, and now, there are some talks that David Beckham has been linked to the club once his MLS contract runs out with the Los Angeles Galaxy in November.

Home form is going to be crucial going forward for survival this year for the Hoops, after going 14-7-2 last year in its table topping season in the Championship. One would like to think that this team will need at least six or seven victories at home to be able to lock up its spot in the EPL once again next year, and this seems to be the type of fixture that is winnable to say the least.

Bet365 has QPR lined as a slight +145 favorite on the three-way Premier League lines. It is a ‘pick ‘em’ at -145. The visitors are +185 to take three points, while the draw is set at +225. The oddsmakers are expecting a low scorer, as the ‘total’ has been set at 2.5 over +120.
